Our top tips for staying in Myeongdong Seoul

  • Book a hotel near a metro station for easy access to attractions outside of Myeongdong. A lot of great places are within walking distance of this area. However, the metro comes in handy if you want to explore Gangnam, Seoul Forest and other areas of the city.
  • The north of Myeongdong near Euljiro 1(il)-ga metro station is the most central area to stay in Myeongdong. It’s a short walk from some excellent attractions, shopping malls and restaurants.
  • Choose a hotel with breakfast included. It’ll save you time and money eating out. Buffet breakfasts are always a great start to the day!
  • Book your hotel as far in advance as possible. Being a capital city that’s growing in popularity worldwide, Seoul is busy no matter the time of the year. Hotel rooms can fill up fast so try to book at least 3 months in advance.
  • Book a hotel with free cancellation if possible. That way, if the hotel drops in price or you find something better before arrival, you can cancel and re-book.
  • Travel to your Myeongdong hotel using the metro. It’s a fast and efficient way to get from the airport or train station, especially during rush hour. Taxis can sometimes take longer due to busy Myeongdong traffic.
  • Book a hotel or aparthotel with cooking facilities if staying in Myeongdong for an extended period. The extra space and convenience of cooking your own meals is well worth it.
  • If you plan on being out and about sightseeing all day, save money by booking a cheaper hotel. When we visited Seoul, we only really slept and had breakfast in the hotel. There’s so much to see you’ll want to be out every minute!
  • Check hotel reviews on Google and Tripadvisor before booking. We’ve found the level of cleanliness, service and quality of Myeongdong hotels to be very good. However, there are some places to stay in Myeongdong with poor or very average reviews.
